MESSAGE TITLE: THE CHURCH AND ELECTION IN NIGERIA BY BISHOP DR. S.I OKELEZOH
TEXT: Proverbs 29:2, Zech. 1:1, 2 Samuel 23:3-4, 2 Chron. 7:14, 1 Samuel 2:35-36, Exodus 1:6, Luke 22
We are in the week of the presidential election: the choosing of the president in human flesh that will either lead the people to the right path or involve in corruption and the sacrifice of innocent souls. “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn” Proverb 29:2. How many of you have your PVC? Go and vote the truth. Your PVC is your critical symbolic presenter of the will of God’s conscience that brings God into the throne of Government in Nigeria: if you want God to descend and rule over Nigeria, you must get your PVC. Before God’s will can come, there must be a government.
“The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it” Proverb 29:4. If we want our land to be established we must bring in a new king who loves judgment, truth, justice, and righteousness. As believers, you should not be part of those who are in the business of selling and buying PVC(s). Selling and buying of PVC is anti-God; It shouldn’t be sold by you, any agents, political parties or the government, and to do so is gross evil, gross corruption, and gross darkness. The church is the pillar and ground of the truth.
An election took place in the book of Samuel. The name ‘Samuel’ represents God’s name and also means God has heard the cry of His people. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” 2 Chronicles 7:14. If you want to govern God’s people, you must be righteous and fear Him. “The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God” 2 Samuel 23:3.
Your PVC is your authority and right to vote (Franchise). The word ‘franchise’ deals with two words: franc and frank. Frank means being sincere, truthful, loving righteousness, justice, and judgment. Franc is a French word which means money. God accepts frank and not franc. The love of money is the root of all evil. People of the world now use money to buy their way into power.
