A lamp needs oil to give light; its oil burn to give light. Our spirit is a lamp unto God and the world. The Word of God is the oil for our spirit. The Word of God is the Anointing. The word of God accumulated by our body produces oil that brings our spirit to burn. We are a burning and shining light only if our spirit is filled with a light-giving, burning oil. A believer must continually receive God’s Word. The Word of God is first spoken and then received, written in a book.
“. . . that he may run that readeth it” (Habakkuk 2:2). Christians can only run the heavenly race by divine understanding, which is received from God’s Word. Christians should not be lazy readers, but voracious readers, who are quick to understand and do. “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8). The Books of Life’s Oil includes the Bible and other books written through the inspiration of God.
“It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments” (Psalms 133:2). The Word of God is the Anointing, the oil for our spirit, which is a lamp; and this oil must flow from the head to the feet. The Anointing on the head implies understanding and insight; the Anointing on the feet implies authority and dominion. All Believers’ feet must be anointed in order to dominate and subdue the enemy: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19).
“. . . let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil” (Deuteronomy 33:3). All believers’ feet must be dipped in oil, which is God’s Word and inspired books.
